The remains of St. Nons Chapel, near St. David's, the smallest city
in Britain, is built on the site where the saint supposedly gave birth
to David, the patron saint of Wales. A holy well springs forth near
the chapel. The site faces south in a shallow dip that slopes towards
the cliffs and sea. A ring of small standing stones maybe 200 metres
across encircles the chapel. More, lager stones can be seen in fields
nearby but the stone circle and other stone are not marked on the
Ordinance survey map and no mention is made of them in information
relating to the chapel and well. I found fairy ring mushrooms beside
one stone and several rings of perfect Field mushrooms (Agaricus
Campestris) in the field. Later these were served with spaghetti,
cream, nutmeg and parmesan as the sun sank towards Ireland.
