When you find names with a ? it means we are not completely sure what it is. When you see single quotation marks it means that I have been unable to identify the insect or creature, so I have made up a name for it.

We can't photograph everything, so I wrote this after I saw some bats:

PIPISTRELLE CIRCUS

One night I went out with my Dad to look for bats. The sky was darkish blue with no stars. We went behind the reception where the campsite billboard towered above us. Glowing insects hovered over the spotlights shining up at it. But there were no bats to be seen. We were just about to give up and leave, when suddenly a black shape zoomed out of the darkness. It looked like a mouse with wings. It swooped and looped like a trapeze artist gone mad! Then another and another and another appeared and put on a show of arial acrobatics. One gave chase to a moth in a mad zig zagging criss crossing flight across the billboard. One swooped round our heads , I could fell the wind from its wings in my hair . They did one final dive then disappeared back into the darkness.
