This project takes as its starting point an incident involving my parents that took place in the former Yugoslavia in 1962. In an attempt to make sense of my own small part in the history of a country with a lot of history I retrace my parents steps to the island of Iz. On route I make a hand painted version of the international maritime flag that signals 'I require a pilot'. On the small island of Iz I find an abandoned boat on a rubbish tip. The flag is raised... I return to my family on the main land....
