Chalford Apple Day
.
The annual Apple Day event was initiated and organised by Dominic in 2009, along with the Chalford Donkey Project and the Community village shop.
The big Ashmeads press and scratter – for crushing apples pre-press – was set and George’s home-made pressing – which utilises some sturdy timber and two Lidle car jacks – was brought down as well.
Chopping , scratting and press went on from 11 – 4 pm with all the juice which wasn’t drunk on the spot being distributed to all who came. As well as juice, collective apple pies, apple chutney, and spicy apple butter were also produced on site and distributed or scoffed on the spot.
Big thanks to Johnny, George, Anna, Siobhan, and all those who came and made it a great day.
